Wedgwood History

When construction began in the 1960’s, the area that encompasses Wedgwood Subdivision was quite rural in appearance. The Cross Keys intersection was marked by “boulevard stop” signs at the intersection of two-lane roads. There were practically open fields in all directions, and almost no businesses in the area.

The Ferguson-Florissant School District had the foresight to acquire the land upon which the Wedgwood and Cross Keys schools were later built.

With its proximity to St. Louis Lambert International Airport, many original owners in Wedgwood were employees of McDonnell Aircraft (now Boeing). Many educators also bought homes in Wedgwood for easy access to the nearby new schools.

The Wedgwood Trustee Association is a home owner association (HOA) that was formed when the subdivision was built. All owners are members of the HOA. It is governed by trustees from each plat, elected yearly by the homeowners, to serve one to three-year terms each. Annual assessments are used to maintain common ground and support all financial requirements.
